Mosaic Island for Sail!

Over the weekend of 7th May a team from Mosaic Island took to the water aboard the ‘Mosaic Island III’ to venture into the waters of the Solent.  We embarked from Port Solent marina on Friday morning and headed out into the Solent to brush up on our rope handling and navigation skills to add some nautical miles to our Day Skipper tickets.  An overnight stop at Cowes to take on much needed refreshments followed by a leisurely start on Saturday.  We made full use of a north easterly breeze to fill our much admired goose-wing sail configuration to nail our way down the Solent – possibly the fastest set of canvas afloat that day??  A brief lunch stop at Yarmouth then we headed out to peek at the needles before beating windward towards Lymington for our second overnight stop and… more refreshments.  After breakfast on Sunday we headed back east to Port Solent against the wind (and tide at some points) with the occasional aid of the ‘mechanical topsail’.   Great fun was had by all and many thanks to our guest crew Jeremy and Colin.
