Delivering a Transformational IT Strategy for Network Homes

Network Homes provides homes of all tenures, operating across the entire housing market – from social rented properties to penthouse apartments in prestigious private developments for sale or for market rent.

The enactment of continuous government change is restructuring the marketplaces in which Network Housing Group operates. Technology is recognised as a key enabler as the Group transforms, responds to change and drives further growth opportunities. The development of a new IT Strategy represented an opportunity for the Group to proactively understand the changing demands of their customers and the impact this was having on their operational directorates. It also provided a timely opportunity, through the delivery of new technology, to enable the business to achieve the goals set out in the 5-year business strategy. Network Homes also capitalised on the opportunity to develop a clear technology and ‘digital’ direction after the cancellation of a planned merger with Catalyst Housing.

Project Scope:

The scope of the engagement was to develop a ‘Business to IT strategy’ for the entire Network Homes organisation. A key element of the scope of the strategy was that it should be developed from a clear understanding of business demand and also support the delivery of the corporate business plan and directorate service plans. The resulting IT Strategy therefore had to define a 3-year transformation for the Network Housing Group business, articulating not only the desired outcome but also the journey required to achieve it.

Alignment - IT and Business connected for Business Transformation

100% - Targeted and strategic IT investment

Innovation - to drive simplified process, customer self service and seize the digital opportunities

Insight - Use of information and Business Intelligence (BI) to drive the business

Our Approach:

  • Our approach is based on the Gartner 'Demand, Supply and Control' IT strategy model which we have used extensively with many client engagements.
  • Our expert consultants use this framework to ensure complete objectivity during the discovery, business engagement and sponsorship phases, driving IT alignment to support the strategic business demand.
  • The framework follows three distinct steps as follows: Demand - considers the business context, business capabilities and strategic ambitions, Control - provides the principles and governance framework necessary to drive the day-to-day activity. Supply - outlines the target architecture to support the strategy and provides a high level roadmap of how to achieve the target.

Results:

  • The development of the IT strategy was delivered over an accelerated 12-week period.
  • After facilitated presentations and discussion with the senior team, it was approved by the Executives and Directors within Network Homes, to enable a Business Transformation programme to commence.
  • The method of engagement by Mosaic Island is one which has been described as 'engaging and enlightening'.
  • Network Homes now has a defined IT Strategy that addresses both its current business challenges and future strategic objectives.
  • We continue to work with Network Homes to design and deliver the transformation programme.

Mosaic Island have worked with us to deliver more than just an IT strategy, the breadth and scope of their analysis, recommendations and investment themes are now core parts of our in-flight Business Transformation programme
