Successful merging of IT systems for Gallions and Peabody

With its roots established back in the 1860’s, Peabody Group is a housing association that today provides over 28,000 homes through rental or low-cost ownership schemes across London.

Peabody engaged Mosaic Island over a 12-month period to accelerate a programme to architect and manage the IT systems consolidation, the data and process migration for Gallions integration into Peabody. Gallions (Trust Thamesmead and Tilfen Land) became part of the Peabody Group in 2014.

The merger of the housing associations required all of the IT systems to be aligned and all of the core business functions to be migrated onto one Housing Management system. This became a large-scale and complex data migration project that required detailed analysis encompassing process rationalisation, IT development, data mapping, data transformation, testing and constant checkpoint reviews, staff communication, training and skills transfer.

Project Scope:

27,000

homes merged on to one platform

Risk

mitigated through meticulous planning: 1500 test scripts

15M

critical data elements migrated

Skills

transfer to sustain business-engaged change

Our Approach:

  • Our expert team used Mosaic Island’s Agile-based delivery methodology – Business Engaged Change – which provided complete transparency and visibility to the programme team and Peabody management throughout the programme lifecycle
  • We worked alongside the Peabody team to plan, design and deliver the outcomes, to migrate the Orchard Housing Management to QL (Aereon) in 3 key sequences
  • Sequence 1: People, Property and Tenancy Data
  • Sequence 2: Rents and Service Charges
  • Sequence 3: Maintenance, Contractors and Repairs

Results:

  • The education, skills transfer and subsequent recruitment has left a sustainable capability for Peabody, allowing the organisation to successfully manage similar programmes in the future.
  • Operational efficiency and excellence
  • Rationalised core business processes

Mosaic Island and their expert programme team have taken us from a standing start to a successful platform migration within a 12-month period. This has allowed for the significant integration phase between our two organisations to be completed. Their skills and professional approach have helped our business to rethink and to take a business-engaged approach when delivering ‘IT’ change programmes. They have allowed our business to successfully move towards the next phase of growth and diversification.
